James Crotty joined The Federal Group, Inc. in the fall of 2022, fresh from over five years as Director of Communications and Senior Policy Advisor to Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee. In this intense high-level work, Crotty was a respected and influential thought leader and communicator on ag security, environmental security, health security, and national security. He was instrumental in helping secure passage of the groundbreaking ACT for ALS, the Great American Outdoors Act, the Middle East Partnership for Peace Act (MEPPA), the Defending Economic Livelihoods and Threatened Animals Ac, or DELTA Act, and The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (RAWA).
Prior to his congressional service, Crotty was the Forbes education columnist, becoming a go-to expert on ed tech and for-profit education, and an evangelist for the pivotal role that adult mentorship, great books shared inquiry, and academic sports play in ending the dropout epidemic.
Crotty received a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Northwestern University and a Master of Liberal Arts from St. John’s College Santa Fe, “the great books school.” He resides in DC, LA, and Omaha.
